One Recovery Bury and Oldham Walk the Length of Britain for UK Recovery Month
One Recovery Bury and Oldham will be walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End during September to celebrate UK Recovery Month. However, this isn’t your usual walk, participants don’t need to leave Bury or Oldham.
Everyone taking part will be issued with pedometers with the goal of walking the equivalent distance between John O’Groats and Land’s End. Split into teams, every team member will have to log their miles for the day, with the combined total contributing to their march to the tip of the UK. There will be an individual prize for the person who walked the most during the challenge, and a group prize for the team that reaches the combined total first.
UK Recovery Month is about celebrating recovery from the addiction and its associated struggles. This can encompass many things and reflect an individual’s personal goals and ambitions, but a key part of achieving such ambitions can be about living a healthier and more active life. Throughout September One Recovery Bury and Oldham will be encouraging healthy eating and the benefits of exercise – walking the equivalent distance from the very North of the UK to the very South will show how everyday activities like walking to the shops instead of driving can soon add up and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Keep a look out throughout September to see updates and track progress. Updates will be posted on the ADS Facebook and One Recovery websites.
And remember, you can take part in the challenge as well! All you need is a pedometer or a smartphone and you can walk your way to a healthier lifestyle.
